Core Investment Policy Statement
Anglia Advisors's core investment policy has at its heart the belief that, as our investment management clients, you are best served, wherever possible, by participating in thoughtfully and professionally allocated, cost-efficient, broadly diversified, tax-optimized, risk-appropriate portfolios. These are to be comprised, whenever possible, of investments in the form of liquid, low-cost exchange-traded funds (ETFs) or mutual funds targeted to your goals and objectives.
Based on empirical data, we believe that the your best interest is absolutely not served by investment in any individual stocks/bonds, expensive actively-managed mutual funds, annuities (with the very occasional exceptions of a Single Premium Immediate Lifetime Annuity or a Qualified Longevity Annuity Contract), insurance-based, so-called "investment" products (such as any kind of whole life insurance), hedge fund-type investments, limited partnerships, crypto-currencies, leveraged instruments, derivatives, investments made using margin or complex structured products.
Anglia Advisors generally believes that frequent over-trading within a core account, numerous buys and sells based on gut-feelings, emotion, fundamental analysis, anecdotal theories with little or no data evidence to back them up or recognized behavioral errors, individual stock-picking, astrology or other superstitious or faith-based beliefs, day-trading and continuous attempts at market timing are detrimental to clients from the perspective of long term rate of return, costs incurred, ending balance of the account and tax efficiency.
Having said that, while we believe that a completely static buy-and-hold approach can often perform similarly to a momentum-based trend-following strategy, there are times when a natural but potentially damaging divergence between these two can cause a rules-based, algorithmic reallocation to occur based on a proprietary mechanical system, reliant on evidence-based principles and never by using human hunches, gut feelings, or as a response to market “noise".
This allocation to a hybrid buy-and-hold and momentum-based strategy is not suitable for all accounts but carries the advantage of ensuring that you never have to feel “all-in” or “all out” when such an allocation is not appropriate.
Such portfolio adjustments will be based on what has happened or ends up happening, but never on what we predict will happen, because we recognize the complete futility of such predictions by ourselves or anyone else.
Additional portfolio adjustments may also be caused by implementation of tax-optimization strategies, a robust rebalancing policy or a meaningful change in your individual circumstances .
Each account is initially allocated after thoughtful consideration of its particular time horizon, specific goals, probability of premature withdrawal, your risk profile and other targeted circumstances in full collaborative consultation with, and approval of you, the client.
You will be provided with some context about how investment markets work, why ETFs and low cost mutual funds are the preferred vehicle of choice, why some outcomes are more likely than others, how risk is appropriately balanced so as to optimize – to the extent possible – your portfolio to accomplish the goals laid out between ourselves.
You will be provided with easy-to-read financial market reports every month so that you can keep on top of markets in general and your investments in particular.
You will be provided with a fee schedule for asset management, laid out in black and white and also be shown exactly what the annual fund expenses associated with the portfolio are so that there is never any question about your true investment costs.
You will be provided with a direct phone number to your advisor that you can call or securely text at any time and an email address that will be promptly responded to. Never hesitate to ask any question about your investments or our handling of them that’s nagging at you. Just get in touch.
You can be comfortable in the knowledge that your advisor is personally completely invested and has invested the assets of close family members in exactly the same types of investments, instruments and strategies that he will be suggesting and recommending to you.
All of our engagements are conducted under the Fiduciary Standard. Anglia Advisors never accepts commissions, distribution fees, or payments of any kind from any third parties in order to promote, refer, recommend or sell any proprietary investments, financial products, insurance policies or strategies to our clients. Nor does Anglia Advisors sell any form of insurance or annuities. The firm is not compensated in any way for any client purchases resulting from a recommendation nor does it accept or pay any kind of referral fees from or to outside professionals.
All investing of any kind in any instrument is subject to risk, including the possible loss of the money you initially invested. Diversification does not ensure a profit, nor does it guarantee any protection against a loss. Foreign investing involves additional factors including two-way currency fluctuations and possible additional political uncertainty. Stocks of companies in so-called emerging markets are generally deemed to be even more risky than US domestic stocks or those in so-called developed countries. Bond investments are subject to interest rate, credit, and inflation risk.
Account Aggregation and Online Credentials
Certain account aggregation and investment management systems offered by Anglia Advisors to some of its clients may allow them to view their account statements from various financial institutions such as banks or credit unions, investment account custodians, retirement account providers, student loan providers in one place or allow advisor limited, partial access to investment and/or retirement accounts to conduct risk analysis or make certain allocation changes.
In many cases, this requires the client to enter the account's online credentials to effect real-time access to the account data. These online credentials are never made available to, held or stored by Anglia Advisors.
In the case of aggregators, they simply gather existing data from a variety of sources and will let clients see it via a convenient portal. Anglia Advisors is not affiliated with any account aggregator and does not receive any type of fee or other consideration from the provider if you sign up for account aggregation, although a fee may be optionally assessed to the client by Anglia Advisors for access to the portal.
Before you decide to use an account aggregator, you should understand what it does and does not do. An account aggregator assembles data from various sources, and the information it gathers may include some data about historical account performance, but an account aggregator is not an investment performance reporting tool. The data it passes on to you may not have been verified by the account aggregator provider nor by Anglia Advisors.
Clients should always review their official account statements, and not consider any consolidated report such as that available through an account aggregator or any similar service to be a substitute for your actual account statement.
In the case of investment management, risk analysis of accounts or student loan repayment analysis, this usually works by you allowing limited, partial access to your account by using your unique login and password. Once again, these online credentials are never made available to, held or stored by Anglia Advisors.
Your financial institution may or may not be able tell the difference between you and any third party that logs in with your access information. You should review your account agreement with each financial institution to determine if providing your account access information to a third party violates your account agreement. Your financial institution may also reserve the right, at its discretion, to decline to recognize this discretion over your account.
Additionally, advisor or aggregator access to the account may be limited or blocked from time to time by internal security protocols established by the institution (such as requiring password changes, answers to security questions, texting or emailing of verification codes/tokens etc.). In many cases, this may require re-entry of the online credentials by the client into the third-party system. In some cases however, our third party partners may have the technology to allow continued access by the advisor with the client granting permissions in advance, so that the client does not need to keep having to assist advisor sign on through communication or entry of this supplemental data.
Anglia Advisors has no control over the security practices or current or future privacy policies of these aggregation or investment management service providers and will assume no responsibility for any damages (financial loss, ID theft or any other damage) resulting from their use. While Anglia Advisors has reason to believe in the quality of such services, we cannot be held liable in any way for the services or security/privacy procedures offered by these third party providers.
